Augusta Isley

How do you interact with Cayuse products on a daily basis?

I am in Cayuse SP daily working on proposals and maintaining data integrity. I also do a fair amount of troubleshooting oddball issues that are just quirks of the system. I am constantly trying to find ways to maximize the use of Cayuse to meet the needs of the University.

What do you like to do outside of work?
My partner & I have 6 cats that we love to hang out with. During the warm months, I love to kayak, bike the trails, and garden. I am also very passionate about volunteering in my community. Grantsmanship is a unique skill and I use it to get funding for local non-profits, specifically around LGBTQIA+ and women's issues, sustainability and refugee resettlement.

What do you see as the hottest trends in research today?
Food science. The way food has been grown and raised is not sustainable.

What do you consider most promising in the era of big data?
Big data is just like every other incredible development in the digital age - a double-edged sword. I think the most promising thing is the serious conversations around why data are collected, what it's being used for, privacy and security. We must be good stewards of the data we collect. With great power comes great responsibility!

How can an organization stay relevant five years from now?
Invest in your people. Take care of them, give them the space to grow if they want to, give them the opportunity to fail and learn, listen to them, pay them more (like a lot more).

What app would be hard for you to live without?
TikTok - so many great content creators out there. YouTube would take a quick second.

If you could meet any historical figure, who would you choose and why?
The Notorious RBG comes to mind first because what a woman! What a life!

But after some thought Gilda Radner. I loved watching her when I was growing up. She kept up with all the dudes on SNL back in the day and was way more fun to watch most of the time.

Thank you, Augusta, for being a Cayuse Champion and sharing your thoughts!
